Q for Blizzard's University Relations

Before I continue let me just say I'm aware that University Relations has its own e-mail address and that I've already tried contacting them on the matter but they haven't responded after a couple inquiries.

Back in January, I submitted my resume as application to Blizzard's summer internship program, specifically in the field of game design. I had multiple contacts back and forth via e-mail with their University Relations department regarding my resume and demo reel. Eventually, they asked me to specify a discipline within their general game design department and then complete a questionnaire. That was exactly 1 month ago when I submitted my filled questionnaire, and unfortunately I haven't heard back from then since.

Considering the FAQ says internships begin in June, and it's already halfway through May, I'm concerned about the status of my application. This late in the process I'd normally guess I just didn't get accepted and the University Relations office is being lazy about telling me, but I know other people who have also applied to the internship program and actually received e-mails saying they've been denied. The strange thing is they've had their denial letters at varying times, some as early as March, some as late as April, but either way, they've heard back before May. Additionally, my friends applied to different departments in the internship program (art and some other stuff, don't remember).

I realize this is kind of a big favor to ask, but if a Blue could please just send a simple inquiry to the University Relations office and check the status of their applications, I'd be quite grateful/relieved.

Again, sending an e-mail to the University Relations office has not yielded any results so please don't ask me to try again :\

While I am not familiar with this program personally, Envious, it may appear as though all 2009 Summer Internships are filled. I would continue to email University Relations for the status of your application, and you may wish to visit the University Relations page for information:

Q u o t e:
Harlsoco, do you have a list of the names or emails of the people in the positions? Is it possible the op is in the program, but at some point the line of communication got broke? You do have OPs name and email after all

Unfortunately, I am not familiar with this program, or who the point of contact is, Valalvax. Please visit the University Relations section of the website for more details. You may also wish to email [email protected] directly.

Q u o t e:
*edit* that last line came out sounding very "I know how to do your job more than you" or something, which was definitely not the intended effect

No offense taken. :)

I really do suspect that the line of communication probably did break somewhere seeing how my other friends who applied actually received specific denial notices, and I basically haven't heard anything. Anyways, thank you for responding. I'll try e-mailing them one last time although I doubt I will get anything more than the generic auto-response.

ANY additional advice, in the mean time, would be greatly appreciated.

I apologize for any miscommunication that may have transpired during your application process, Envious. As you may be well aware, our Summer Internship Program is quite popular. Every year we receive thousands of applicants, and only a select few are chosen. To hopefully put your mind at ease some, they are in the process of sending out emails as we speak. If you are not chosen this year, definitely shoot for 2010!

Good Luck!
