Simple questions regarding balance direction.

Just a few questions, hoping to get a response as these questions are kind of the talk of the forums at the moment. I'm going to try to get as many of the important ones as i can in one post.

1. Exorcism, currently it is still able to be used on pets. Is this an intended mechanic? If yes, why? If no, will it be fixed anytime soon.

2. Juggernaut. Currently this spell is considered by most as insufferably overpowered. Is this ability going to be tweaked in any way in the future? If so how?

3. Retribution burst and complexity. Is retribution burst going to be tweaked in any way soon? Is the retribution rotation going to be made any more complex in the future? If yes to either of those please elaborate.

4. Melee Domination. Currently Rogues, Ret Pallies, Warriors, and Deathknights are by far the dominating dps classes in arena. Is going to be any effort to give casters more of an edge?

5. Hunters. Currently hunters are the lowest represented class in arena. Is there going to be any effort to return them to a respectable state in pvp? If so, how?

These are probably the most popular topics on the forums right now and some input from a blue would probably bring the discussion out of the loop it is stuck in. It might also bring some hope/relief to many players. Please answer.

P.S. 6. When is SS gonna get nerfed?

Exorcism worked on demons and undead before, so the only real change here is versus hunter pets. We don't think this is a gigantic problem given that we've already said we plan to redesign how Exorcism works. If hunters are too weak in Arena, it's unlikely that Exorcism is the cause.

I would not include "considered by most" as part of my arguments. You have no idea if that's actually true and you don't need it in there to make a strong argument in the first place. Juggernaut is something we're keeping an eye on. We introduced it specifically to give warriors some much-needed PvP potency and don't want to immediately nerf it back to being a non-entity.

I have answered this recently. We want to make Retribution less about unloading multiple cooldown-restricted abilities all at once. We aren't ready to discuss our specific plan yet or we would have already done so.

Your other questions were on Arena representation. We will continue to work to make sure classes and specs are not too dominant nor too weak in Arena matches. I don't want to turn this thread into a "your class is OP", "no u" rugby scrum. Hunters are something we are paying close attention to. I don't think it's intuitively obvious if any specific nerfs went too far, or just whether the Arena environment is different now than it was last season. Changing one class often has effects on all the others. It's not as simple as just buffing one or nerfing one because those changes will likely cause another class or comp to rise or fall.

This thread has gotten into so many different areas now that I'm not sure there is a unified topic any longer. In general, very generic "Your'e class is overpowered" vs. "Nuh uh, yours is," are not particularly useful without a lot more explanation behind them (which to be fair, a few of you have offered).

We are considering making Exorcism not work against players or pets for 3.1.2. It would be a PvE only ability. In 3.2 we still intend to make it work differently.

We may yet make Juggernaut changes, but we don't have any to announce yet.

these are the people that casually pvp in bgs and occasionally get their facerolled by a better player. instead of trying to improve their own game, they simply qq to the forms and try to loby to get X class nerfed. the issue is not with class imbalance so much as players simply not willing to try to get better or not willing to admit that they simply suck.

Q u o t e:
Another lost arena season for retribution. Horrendous dps now, not even worth queueing up, no point in farming gear, it wont be enough.

I’m not trying to single you all out here, but much of this thread (the forums even) comes down to “If Blizzard nerfs my class, then they listen to QQ / don’t understand my class / are dumb,” or “If Blizzard doesn’t nerf the other guy then they show favoritism / don’t listen to us / are dumb.”

If you think an ability should or shouldn’t work a certain way, argue that point. The kind of argument you’re making sound like “Now Blizzard won’t nerf me, because if they do it will look like they were listening to QQ and they’ll want to save face!”

I know it’s hard to keep from getting freaked out when you see other players calling for nerfs for your class. But we’re going to tend to skip over your posts if they are just filled with sky is falling rhetoric or disdain for other players or the people actually making the decisions about what to change or not.

Q u o t e:
You can always isolate us down to a single, lone customer and invalidate any point we put forward. Using this method you could argue that In-game voice chat is a RAGING success and it's just that lone poster, his guild and everyone he knows in-game who are the odd ones out.

I can honestly say that neither myself, my friends, family or anyone in my immediate sphere of influence has EVER been to the Antartic. I would try to tell you it's cold there but, y'know . . .

There is nothing wrong with forming an opinion, especially if you try and support it with something. I would suggest that something should not be “everybody feels this way.” Your Antarctic example is actually a good example. It sounds kind of silly to say “The Antarctic is cold because everyone thinks it’s cold.” Likewise, you don’t need to say “Juggernaut is overpowered because everyone thinks it’s overpowered.” I realize a lot of WoW design is more subjective than that, but you'll still get farther with logic than you will trying to invoke silent majorities.

Q u o t e:
The only thing I can see Blizzard doing with juggernaut is lowering the bonus crit chance you get from it. They won't remove the charge in combat, because I think Blizzard likes the idea and it also makes imp charge an actual viable talent(lol with imp charge being in the tree for 4 years and it finally being viable.)

Yes, this is logical. The charge in combat is the key part of the ability and not something we are liable to mess with. Lowering the crit chance would be an option. So would be messing with the glyph of charge.

Q u o t e:
So I wonder what happened, in the span of one day, to change the POV expressed here:

[This was about Exorcism working on pets.] We change our minds all the time. If we didn't, then interacting with the community would be of much less limited value. My original comments ended up spurring a lot of discussion in the community and in the office and we became convinced that the ability was just really one-sided especially against hunters and locks. Remember, it did not used to get the auto crit. We don’t mind abilities that counter other player’s abilities, but there needs to be some back and forth involved.

We do find some of the complaints that Ret is terrible in PvP to be misplaced.
