Are you seriously okay with this Blizz?

I have been ragging on about the mage community shifting torward dominant fire specs for awhile now, having seen that kind of atmosphere of thinking in the mage forums/elitist jerks etc first hand.

Now I have some facts to back this up.

Shows mages at a pretty fair spot for raid dps. Now let's click that little old mage icon and see what happens, shall we?

Fire mages significantly more represented than arcane in every fight.

Is this not a problem? Is blizzard happy with arcane being so reliant on an extraordinarily risky evocation? That it absolutely relies on mana gems yet mana gems hit a wall after 3 charges have been used? We obviously don't do more dps than fire mages. We don't bring raid utility. The spec is without a doubt harder to manage.

My data only shows a sample of some very high dps mages (and those using wow meter), but I think it still rather starkly demonstrates my point. I'm not saying arcane needs dps buffs, you can see some arcane mages scattering those charts. The problem is OUR MECHANICS.

We had it so good after 3.0.8, and still so after the nerfs with 3.0.9. The mage community was pretty much evenly split between fire vs arcane back then because fights were short and you didn't need to evocate so much. Then we told you a thousand times that Ulduar was going to make us slip, yet we've done nothing. There were no arcane changes with 3.1, and the horizon for us continues to look bleak.

I think Luph's point was actually an interesting one, so I'm going to take the unusual step of throwing a blue on the thread in hopes that it recovers from the off topicness of most of the replies.

Protip: Ask yourself "Will other players really get something out of my post?" before you hit that button.
