Missing Pets - Children's Week

On login this morning, I decided to double check which of the Stormwind pets I still need to get them all. After doing the quests at least 1 if not 2 previous years, I seem to be now missing 1 or 2 of the Children's Week pets!

I know 100% that I have completed the previous years' quests at least once, and nearly 100% positive that I've completed it 2 of the previous years, but yet I do not have any of the Stormwind-orphan pets. After contacting a GM, they told me that because the rewards in question was 1 and 2 years old, the rewards were unverifiable...... Say what!? The GM then promptly closed the ticket without giving me a chance to say yes there's something more I'd like to ask.... but that's a different problem.

So Tech Support I need help. The Stable Master will not grant me any recoverable pets. I KNOW I've completed at least 1 previous year of Children's Week, nearly positive I've done it 2 previous years. I am missing pets. Is there seriously no reward-tracking beyond a certain time-frame? I have no positive time-frame as to when I lost these pets, seeing it's a slow climb from 50->75 pets.. I didn't bother to think about looking on a daily basis at my pet 'stable' to be sure what ones I have. Should players micro-manage their personal pet-tab each day to prevent this?
