RAF Paid but STILL can't get mail

Sorry to be impatient, but my RAF upgraded to the full version online (and he's linked to my a/c based on what my a/c management page says) but he STILL can't get his mail!

I understand the waiting period is so gold sellers can't get in and get out, but he's linked already, so why can't I trade/auction/mail him anything? (still says he's a trial a/c in game when he tries any of these actions)

Of course this would happen on the weekend when we've got lots of time to play together :(

Are we there yet?

The accounts are most definitely linked, but the Direct Online Upgrade process requires us to verify the purchase before trade and chat restrictions are removed. This process can take up to 72 hours and will be completed as quickly as possible. Please be aware, however, that Recruit-a-Friend benefits, such as increased experience, should already be applied to the account. Furthermore, all leveling restrictions are removed immediately after the Direct Online Upgrade is purchased.

In most cases, an automated e-mail is sent telling you that the online upgrade process has been completed.
