I received an in game whisper from a character named Blázzard claiming that Blizzard was doing a free mount trail something or other.

He linked the following URL:
--EDITED OUT--

Blues should be able to still see it.

They know of this already best and fastest way to get the accounts looked at that are proforming this illegal act is to right click report spam function in the game.

This would be correct.

Just as a note, any Blizzard representative that whispers you ingame is going to have the little blue Blizzard logo beside their name.

It is indeed a scam.

If you gave out any information, change your password immediately. If you visited a website, I'd recommend doing a deep security sweep of your system.

Unfortunately, that's about as effective as filtering out inappropriate language and URLs - the scammers find ways around. For example, higher ASCII gives them:

Blízz
Blîzz
Blïzz

And then there's Wow, Bliz, funky B like characters, the variants on developer names, Battlenet and variants ... and when all else fails, there's names similar to other player names that are 80s in big guilds and thus probably well known.

A Game Master speaking ingame will always have the little blue Blizzard logo by their name.

No logo - it's not a Game Master.

There is no legitimate mount trial, Mortalis. I encourage you to refrain from visiting any of these websites advertising as such.
