...we have a mature language filter exactly? It seems no matter what options anyone has with this tool if you choose to turn it off shouldn't you be accepting the fact that people are going to curse and you are going to see it?

I'm not agreeing that you should accept racial slurs being said towards anyone because they choose to turn off the filter but it seems that even if you say a word in trade/general chat and someone doesn't agree with you saying those words they can report you and Blizz will actually do something about it. If you don't like seeing those words in game why not just turn on the damn thing?

Please understand that while the optional Mature Language Filter is a great tool to help make World of Warcraft a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone, Petrovah, it does not excuse any player from adhering to our policies regarding communicating in the game.

The Terms of Use define Rules of Conduct that must be followed when playing World of Warcraft, including rules related to chat and interaction with other players. Any breach of these terms can result in an account penalty ranging from a warning to closure of the account, based on the severity of the infraction and how often a player has violated our policies in the past.

this is absurd. everyone here seems to be offended on someone elses behalf. "think of the children," they say. i dont think i've ever met somebody who is truly offended by swearing. its ridiculous to enforce a ban on certain strings of characters.

What it comes down to is that Blizzard Entertainment has decided to create a specific type of that it is against the rules, and that we do not want such language in our game, Kegof. If you decide to break the rules you chance getting actioned. There is no way around that. Chat filter or not.

It is no more legal to break into someone's house simply because they don't have a their home security alarm set. Think of the chat filter as just that, an extra, optional, tool that can be used to keep such language away.
