Strange password change emails

Last night i got hacked and there was nothing i could do about it, since the hacker spammed the password request system for my account, thus it was disabled when i actually tried to get my password back. Anyways, this morning i called up Blizzard, proved that i was the original owner of the account, and my password was reset for me.

After the password reset by a blizzard employee, i received an email with something like:

"After a recent review, Blizzard has reset your password. Ur new password is #$#%@#%"<< random numbers and letters.

When i change my password through the account management page, i get an email saying:

"Your password has been changed over account management, if you did not authorize this change do a password recovery"

When I do a password recovery, i first get an email asking me to confirm it. I click the link and it takes me to another form, i fill in my password/acc name, and i get an email:

"Your password has been changed over password recovery, if you did not authorize contact blizzard"

Now here's the weird email i got, which i have no idea how or why i got:

"A request for a new password for your World of Warcraft Account has been received. Your new temporary password is: #$#$%#$%$# " <<random numbers and letters.

Where the hell is this password change from? The only thing i can think of is that i emailed customer support about retrieving my lost items. They may have reset my password. But i got a separate email saying "We do not handle item retrievals, we will forward your email to the appropriate staff".

It's part of standard procedure for us to reset a user's password when a compromise report comes in.

If that password works, it's nothing to be terribly concerned over. Occasionally this will be done more than once, depending on how this was reported.

Now, if your system was compromised, bear in mind they may also be into your email. Once you are absolutely certain your system is clean, I highly recommend changing your email password as well.

This sticky may prove useful if you've not already reviewed it.
