As a casual player with very limited play time, I find myself almost paralyzed with indecision on what to do as the achievements distract me....it pulls me away from raiding & farming and other pursuits!

Why did you make achievements so fun and distracting?? CURSES BLIZZARD!

And now there is another Squirrel achievy??? I blame bornak

I tend to take them as they come depending on the area I'm in. I spent some time recently getting my unarmed up to 400 by doing quests and at the same time smacking on things... veerrrrry slowly. I'm sure people going past were wondering why the crazy person was just swinging wildly at things versus killing them though. ;)

But the woosh! And the pretty lights! And the heartfelt congratulations from your guildies! Are you made of stone?!

This made me smile.

The only thing I dislike about achievements is the total lack of privacy. I wish there was some way to disable notifications. I've actually put off actions I know will net me an achievement until minimal people are online to deal with less "grats!". (If it's been a long, hard day at work and I'm tired, sometimes I want to WoW in quiet.)

Of course, there's also the teasing. "Wow, Merc. Grats on RFC at level 80. Musta had a few close moments there, huh? Who was your healer?" Yeah, yeah. Shaddup. :P

I went through Deadmines and got congratulations for the guild. It was funny though. I responded simply with a, "Phew, I don't know how I survived that, but I did it. It was a close one though!"

The teasing can sometimes be the fun part, especially since other people are doing the same things, they just aren't admitting to it. ;)

The woosh is indeed cool... unless you're not expecting it. Like one of those "Loot X amount of gold" type achievements that you don't have a clue is just around the corner. Then the woosh startles the bejeezus out of me.

I still jump when a mob "sneaks" up on me sometimes. :)
