I understand that the process to remove your authenticator may be rather frustrating, Nikkotine. However, being that many players get an authenticator after a compromise has already occurred, using verification of normal account details alone could negate the security the authenticator is meant to provide. It is for this reason that we require verification of the authenticator itself in order for the device to be removed over the phone.
In the event that you are unable to provide the required verification by phone, we offer an alternative method which requires an ID to be sent in with the request. This is so that we may ensure that we are assisting the correct individual.
While this process may pose an inconvenience, using verification of previous account information such as phone numbers or email addresses may result in potentially large decrease in the security an authenticator provides.
Additionally, in the future it may be a good idea to write down the serial number for your authenticator and store it in a safe location. This way if the application is ever deleted, the information needed to remove it from your account is not lost.
I hope that we are able to get the situation resolved for you shortly, and we are able to get you back online soon.
