Recently my brother got an email from blizzard stating his account had been closed for economy exploitation. I know the obvious buying selling gold would get his account banned. However I know there are other things that are considered economy exploitation. Can anyone either a blue or someone who knows about this please help me out here. Thanks.

However it is less common that Blizzard would have found such economy exploitation and then banned the account without noticing that the account had been compromised prior to the occasion.

Not necessarily true. We react mostly to the actions that take place on the account, it is up to the player to dispute such penalties. If they do that we will go back and work to verify that the account was compromised at the time.
