Q u o t e:
Talents disappeared from view and I cant assign any new talents. I had selected to use the preview talent spec and it then made it so I couldn't view any talents from that point forward. I haven't had this problem on any characters but this one so I am not going to delete my add-ons. Please advise.
Q u o t e:
1) *IMPORTANT* Exit the World of Warcraft to your desktop by logging out of the game and exiting. If World of Warcraft isn't closed, then these steps won't have the desired effect.
2) If you used an "installer" for a custom UI, see if it has an "uninstaller" and use it.
3) Inside the World of Warcraft Program Folder, delete the "WTF," "Cache," and "Interface" folders.
4) Restart your computer.
5) Please do not reinstall Addons prior to testing the issue you were experiencing.
6) Make sure that you are using WOW.EXE or LAUNCHER.EXE to start the game. Please do not run any UI installers beforehand, as we want to eliminate them as part of the issue.
7) Upon launching the game, you should see the Intro cinematic movie and be prompted to agree to the Terms of Use. Once you authenticate past the login screen, the “AddOns” button should no longer be visible at the lower left corner of the character selection screen. Both points mentioned previously must hold true if you should complete the aforementioned steps correctly.

Update, 4/17/2009
Points spent in talented spells should now persist correctly through logout even if overwritten by a higher version. Additionally, hunter pets should now have their talent point correctly reset if dismissed before swapping from a spec with Beast Mastery into one without by using the dual spec feature.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We're currently aware of the following talent point/dual-spec issues:
1) Too many or too few available talent points –
Should your character's talent interface display an incorrect number of available points, it is recommended that you first proceed with a full reset of your UI (http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?articleId=20377). You may wish to preserve your AddOns by moving your AddOns folder to a separate location prior to performing the steps, but please test this issue before reinstalling them!
If the issue persists following this reset, a Game Master’s attention may be required. We thus encourage you to submit an in-game petition with the following information included:
- Character name and realm
- Brief description of issue
- Confirmation that UI has been reset
2) Talents are being partially reset when swapping between saved dual specs –
Some talent points are being wiped upon switching from one spec to another; we are aware that this is occurring and are presently pursuing resolution. In the meantime, it will be necessary to re-distribute your talent points when this occurs. We sincerely apologize for any resulting inconvenience, and hope to remedy this issue as soon as we can.
A possible workaround to this issue has been suggested on our EU forums here:
http://forums.wow-europe.com/thread.html?topicId=8797989758&sid=1&pageNo=10#187
3) Talent points not showing up correctly in the talent tree –
In some cases, points invested in talents may not appear within the talent tree. This is believed to be a display issue only, and the all appropriate bonuses and skills should be bestowed upon your character. (http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=16418872953&pageNo=1&sid=1#13)
NOTE: If you have enabled the new "Preview Talent Changes" option (found in Interface options -> Display) you must press "Learn" before any changes to your talent tree take effect. This button is located on the very bottom of the talent tree window.

it's funny because there was a blue sticky post by a GM which after two pages of people saying their "advice" ISNT working, all he did was lock it, and unsticky it.
Q u o t e:
I don't think you guys quite get it: it's NOT some third-party add-on's fault, it's something SERVER side.

Q u o t e:And have you read the entirety of that in-game mail? It says to leave your petition open if the steps they provided you do not alleviate the issue and someone will be with you as quickly as possible.
You can't even tell the GM that it didn't work for you, they immediately ignore you after sending the in-game mail.

This happened to me today on a pally I was levellling. I tried the ui reset with no luck so opened a gm ticket. Came back later in the day and all my talent points had been refunded!! yay!
However the next time I levelled all my allocated talent points disintegrated again and I had 1 unspent point
d'ohhhh
Clicking furiously on the talent tree out of spite it allocated the single point! oops i was in the wrong tree
paid for a 1g respec and all 7 points are back now! (pally is 16). I think I'm just not going to spend any talent points at all until a blue posts with the 'all clear' signal on this issue
