Do Books of Glyph Mastery actually exist?

We didn't really expect that all 50 new glyphs would be for sale on the auction house within less than 24 hours of the realms going live. The books do drop and players should see new glyphs slowly trickle into the economy.

Just some realistic drop rates.

Perhaps our definition of "realistic" differs. If players find little difficulty acquiring Books of Glyph Mastery within 20 hours of the realms going live after the patch, then these new glyphs -- some of which are quite good -- will be everywhere by the day's end.

This isnt like a single last recipe for some epic crafted item.

There are over 40 glyphs that are learned from these books and as far as I have read....a single glyph from a single book.

So far the drop rates still appear to be incredibly low. This is from both personal (an 8 hour grind today) experience, and reading on these forums. Sure, I have seen posts about a drop here or there but again....over 40 of these to fill out your inscription book I dont think that asking for a drop rate that is better than a proto drake is over the top....especially for a green item. (Hyperbole to make point)

Still have yet to see a book or a glyph from a book on the Llane server. I realize that its still very early but the early returns certainly make it sound like it will be a long long time for these glyph to make their way to the masses.

I guess in the end, the lucky scribes who get these glyphs will make out by overcharging everyone for their wares.

It's definitely a valid point, Tash. To be fair though, I wasn't trying to respond with an opposite extreme. You were originally questioning whether or not the books were even dropping correctly at all. I confirmed that they are dropping, and that it shouldn't be seen as an issue if they weren't popping up regularly in the first 24 hours.

We'll certainly evaluate the way the economy functions with the Books of Glyph Mastery and the glyphs they provide over the coming days. I suspect you'll start to see the glyphs popping up quite regularly on most realms, which will regulate the price that can be charged for them. If it does seem that they're too irregular, leaving some classes without fairly necessary glyphs, or inflating the cost too much, perhaps we'll consider a Book of Glyph Mastery bail out package. ;)
