S5 ended? WTH?

So my 2's partner and I did our 10 games on Monday. We went 7-3 (should have been 8-2 but we had a disconnect, later beat the same team) and ended up at 2101. We stopped because both of our roommates were sleeping.

We logged on the next day to see that the season had ended?? We used to get two weeks warning so we can get the rating we want. This had no warning. There wasn't even a confirmation that the patch was coming out.

We were 7-3 at 2050+, we could have easily pushed that to 2200+, and probably got duelist. So now we're out a title.

What gives?

We posted the notice on March 31st. You can find the original post here- http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=16102190121&sid=1

We are currently planning to end Arena Season 5 as early as April 14, or possibly a week after this date. At that point we will go through our normal process to determine who is eligible for the end-of-season rewards. This process should take approximately one week. It's very important for players who feel that they may be eligible for the arena-specific titles and/or Deadly Gladiator’s Frostwyrm to refrain from transferring their character to another realm until after Arena Season 5 ends.

The following Arena Season will not begin for at least one week after the current season ends. During this time between seasons, all rated matches will be turned off and only skirmishes will be available. When Arena Season 6 begins, all teams, personal rating, and arena points will be wiped, but matchmaking rating and honor points will remain.

It was only recently moved to the Blizzard Archive but was linked from the General forum to the PvP forum prior to its relocation.

Blizz doesn't know what week it will be right up until the day before?

Yes.

We announced two weeks prior to one season and ended up having to push it another week until the patch was released and the season ended (which we had warned people was a possibility). We hedge our bets in case something game breaking is found at the last minute. In this case, we were able to meet the timeline which we stated was a possibility in the original post. We gave a warning ahead of time, which is something we normally don't do with patches unless there is an Arena Season change that affects players.

Why wouldn't it be mentioned in game where people actually play? Seems easy enough to do. I don't even do arenas, but it seems bizarre that people are expected to visit the forums to get this info. I'd be willing to guess that a very large majority of wow players rarely visit this place.

We also announced it on the front page and sent word out to the fansites as well.

There were tons of people asking in the forums the night before the patch if it would happen. The blues would not answer the question even in the threads they read and commented in.

Why?

I answered this in a previous post in this very thread. Large patches like this can hang in the balance of go/no go up to the last minute prior to release based on whether anything game breaking is found in testing. There was warning given of when it could happen. Given that you are here reading the forums, it seems that you do come here and could have seen this very message either on the front page or in the forums themselves.
