Blatant lack of professionalism

Call me crazy but does anyone else see a blatant lack of professionalism?

"We are hotfixing Conflagrate to do 70% of Immolate's total periodic damage instantly (down from 100%). The tooltip may still say 100%, so we didn't want this to feel like a stealth nerf.

Since there are so many threads on the topic, it was hard to pick a single one to post this in.

We want for warlocks to have some burst potential, but we feel like it is too high. We don't want the lock playstyle to be the "run around and drop people with huge nukes" gimmick that we have already tried to tone down in say Arcane mages. We don't want to push all warlocks, even in PvP, towards Destruction just to get these big hits or crits. Even if you are "only" getting 5K crits off of an instant spell, it will still be a great button to push"

Original post and the source of QQ.

"We changed the glyph and a set bonus on the PTR. It wasn't enough.

Sometimes you need pretty large sample sizes from Arena or elsewhere to make a call. Sometimes you don't. I think every one of us who was playing last night (warlocks and no) came back this morning saying "Um...".

The PTRs move pretty fast. I think some of you may not have participated on them much have the impression that a PTR is like say patch 3.09 that stays relatively static for weeks so that everyone gets really used to the way the game works. But we make many, many builds during the course of PTR testing. Not all of those builds go external of our offices to the PTR. There are builds where horrible bugs stop you from doing any testing. Sometimes you think an issue is caused by a bug but it's casued by a different bug. Sometimes things work one way on the PTR and work differently when they go live even though nobody changed anything in the interim (usually because of the nature of the server - client structure). It's a big game. Doing a complete regression test on it takes a long time. All of these are reasons (and certainly not all the reasons) why something that might or might not have been a problem on the PTRs might or might not be a problem when the changes go live. "

Pathetic excuses used to cover for incompetence. With the revenue that Blizzard earns, I don't think its unreasonable for us to have high expectations of the product. If the current system doesn't work then invest money and make a new one, just like every other company in the world. Otherwise deal with the complaints in a professional manner as long as undeniable incompetence continues.

"I got nerfed = Why do you listen to everyone's QQ?
I didn't get buffed = Why don't you ever listen to the community?
I got buffed = WoW is the greatest game in the world. Man, this patch rules. Thanks, Blue! "

Degeneration to insult and mockery. How are you any different than the flamer's whose threads you lock?

"Our new policy will be that if any spec or class is ever unbalanced, all other specs and classes will get a one week period in which to be unbalanced just so everything is fair. We hope that if everyone is unbalanced for a period of time that ultimately the game will be balanced. Ponies for everyone!

So who wants to be first?"

More insult and mockery.

"Calling us poopyheads has not generally proven an effective strategy in getting a nerf undone.
A caster killed my pony. "

More insult and mockery.

Anyone who thinks that Ghostcrawler lacks the professionalism to do his job I'd urge you email blizzard, feel free to copy to paste the information here and be on the look out for more of the same. As an adult who pays for this service, I find this behavior unacceptable. Ban me if you want to, there is a lot of valid complaints among the QQ. There is a better way to handle the flood than degenerate to ignoring anything with validity and to responding to childish name calling with childish mockery.

This is off-topic and normally the kind of thing we'd lock. We'll make an exception and leave it open for now, so long as the discussion remains relatively intelligent and doesn't degenerate to typical Internet name-calling.

I'm going to refrain from commenting, but I'll read it.

I'm going to post here just because I think maybe GC is reading and maybe this thread hurt his feelings ):

I'm still not going to comment on the topic, but as I said, I am reading it. Don't worry about my feelings. I'm a game designer -- I've got thick skin. The reason we moderate the forums is more about creating a semi-professional environment, not that we get emo.

However, I think it's probably time to add my title to the signature below so there's less confusion about my role. I know it breaks up the text a little bit. We'll see how it goes.

The reason why GC acts the way he does is because he doesn't understand the time and effort people have put INTO their classes. It's as simple as that.

GC understands that, trust me, we all do. Making jokes like "a caster killed my pony", is just fitting for some posts. You have to remember, we create games and these are game forums. You're going to see us joke around from time to time, and our humor is usually sarcastic -- we're game geeks, that's just how it goes. :P

Also, the fact remains -- I don't believe any of us will really find out what happened to GC's pony. Maybe one day he'll be ready to talk about it.
