Hi,

We think my friend account may have been hacked.

He try to log in but it says his information are incorrect. He tried to retrieve password using the service on the WoW website, but it says my e-mail address is incorrect either.

We don’t know how he could be hacked... He's using a blizzard authenticator for months now. Never download anything on his computer. He didn’t received any fake e-mail from blizzard..

If hackers can now pass through blizzard authenticator, blizzard security must be seriously compromised....

As long as he has physical control of the authenticator, and no one has enough information to call in and have it removed - his account ingame cannot be accessed. It's never happened, urban legend to the contrary.

You do not have to answer this here - but this is HIS account, correct? If it happens not to be, well - that's a whole other issue.

He might want to give Billing a ring in the morning, they should be able to shed more light on this for him.

This makes me worry. : /

It really shouldn't Ven. (oh geesh, the forum doesn't like your name Ven)

Well, the physical theft, yeah - if that is possible, but the other is a pretty far stretch.

Removing one of these isn't easy, at least not for anyone but the true account holder.

That's true, I was just looking at the grand scheme of things. I would expect that some "compromises" may have led from ex girlfriends, boyfriends, or friends and even family with ill intent for their beloved WoW accounts.

Also, me thinks I should change my name! Some of it was bleeped out of your post. This wasn't my intention. : /

Hehe, not a problem.

But it is a good example of why the recommendation we just 'ban' certain words ingame with a filter can have unforeseen results .
