Will guilds abuse Dual Specs?

I've been both excited and fearful of dual specs coming in 3.1. while it does make it easier for people to switch between specs I'm afraid that guilds are gonna make people spec into something they hate just for pure convenience.

basically will guilds allow people to use dual specs as they please or force people into a spec they hate purely for convenience of the guild?

This happens now, daily. I imagine we might see an increase in some guilds attempting to force players into a specific role, but it's up to those players to choose whether or not to put up with it.

I personally wouldn't stay in a guild that forced those sort of things. When you recruit someone to your guild, it should be made clear what role you intend to fulfill, and the guild should recruit you if they have need of you in that role.

Eyonix, the blizz posters keep pointing at people being able to portal and respec as a reason that this will not become an 'abused' mechanic for raiding.

It doesn't relate. You have removed the cost of changing specs. If it is a zero cost thing, then everyone will use it to maximize every part of the game they are attempting. Portaling and respecing had a social, temporal, fiscal, and managerial cost. That is all being removed so that even the most timid scrub will be able to chose the more optimal of two specs for a specific encounter.

If you guys really think this will not effect dungeon balance in one way or another, it can only be denial. People are going to use dual specs to make raids easier (instead of how portaling simply transfered the difficulty to an organizational level). The only way to make raids hard is going to be to balance so that people will have to change specs during a raid.

We're honestly not concerned that this will "break" PvE, and some of the concerns we see here are identical (in concept) with concerns we've seen in the past whenever we've announced certain major new features. Naturally, players are protective of this game, and we fully understand and respect that reality. With that being said, we will be watching closely how dual-specs play out when 3.1.0 releases to live realms, and if we feel we need to make any adjustments, we will.
