Patch Date?

So I'm not expecting a answer on when the patch is going to come out, but I do remember a time where Blizzard announced the PTR was coming down two weeks in advance. This would be sort of a clear indication as to when the patch was coming out. What happened to this method? It was effective and put most of the community at ease.

Just a note: I don't think either of them go in board meetings.

In a given year, I'll probably lead or attend a couple hundred meetings -- and none of them board meetings. :D

It is fairly common knowledge that we do not provide patch dates in advance. There are always situations that may result in the delay of a patch's release, which is why we refrain from giving a date if there's a chance it could be delayed.

We understand that many of you are anxious for the patch to come out, or that you want confirmation on the end of season 5. We have stated that season 5 could end as early as tomorrow. That is still the target date.

Let us also not lose sight of the fact that this thread was active on Friday afternoon. Eyonix and I were having a bit of fun with the community, and the thread remained light-hearted and fun throughout the day. Behavior on the forums changes drastically depending on the time of day and day of the week. As community managers, we try to keep with the flow of the forums. If it's Friday afternoon and posters here are mostly at work and excited to go home for the weekend, we are too and have fun posting a little more loosely. Had this thread been created this morning, I doubt you would have seen us respond the same way.

It makes me very unhappy that you have to justify a couple of lighthearted posts. I truly think many of the forum goers have had their sense of humor surgically removed.

The forums are usually less forgiving at the beginning of the week in general.

I think it's a case of the Mondays.

Simple question - do you enjoy ignoring and/or taunting your player base?

I was busy doing something else and just came back, read this thread, and responded. I apologize if I've unintentionally tortured you by doing this.

We've tried in the past giving patch estimates. Giving estimates and pushing them back ended up being worse than not giving estimates and releasing them when they're ready. The call on whether or not a patch is ready is actually made pretty last minute most of the time and involves a slurry of meetings.
