I'm making this post for a friend who had their account stolen recently.

Her wow account has been deactivated for some time now, but she planned to return in the summer when she had more free time to spend. Today she noticed an email saying her WoW account had been merged into her battle.net account. She has never played any other blizzard games and doesn't have any existing battle.net accounts, and didn't not attempt to create or make one. Now this person who managed to link her WoW account to his has stolen her account (she can't log on to the account management page). I went online today and I saw character online too, so someone is playing on it now.

What can she do to report this? Who should she contact and has anyone else experienced this new method of account stealing?

See and I was just thinking that it goes to show you that people will blame something that isn't technically responsible instead of taking responsibility themselves. :)

In order to merge an account, Appaloosa, it would require knowing specific account information that you are not supposed to give out to anyone. I am sorry that this happened but if someone gained access to your account they could do the same damage with or without Battle.net.

Please contact our Billing Department and they will be able to help sort this out for you.

Australian users should please call 1-800-041-378 if the standard 800 line does not work.
