I had a funny feeling about it so i /who'd the player only to find out he's the same class as me. So i said "oh i see you want to get all the loot for yourself" his reply "YEP".

Anyone else ever run into their wonderful human beings?

I've ran into many players who behave like this since running level 60 dungeons. I've also seen it broken down into "types". For instance, I've had caster dps leave group the second I've invited another caster dps into the mix.
