Does Blizz think RPing is a joke?

A lot of people laugh at the thought of role playing and yesterday we all had a good laugh as every post was scripted into a role-playing thread. Does this mean that it is acceptable to make fun of those who role play? If not I don't quite understand the joke behind the prank.

As with an opinion on anything, there's always a distinction. To use a quick analogy:

Watching a bunch of 5 year old children playing soccer, massing in the middle of the field all trying to kick the ball, is very funny and adorable. That doesn't mean I find the sport of soccer to be ridiculous.

Role-playing in jest, or bad role-play, can be very funny or silly. My opinion in that regard has no bearing on my opinion of those who enjoy role-playing.
