Essence of Gossamer from heroic Azjol'Nerub is an awesome trinket (imo) regardless if you are a new or experienced tank.

I have to say that I've found the tanking trinkets rather uninspiring so far in Wrath. If I wasn't a jewelcrafter I'd be at a loss for what to use for a second trinket. I think that Shadowmoon Insignia was one of the most well designed tanking trinkets blizzard ever put out.

Trinkets tend to have a really wide variety of things that they do, so some will be seen as bad and some overly fantastic. I personally liked the Commendation of Kael'thas a lot but it made sense as an awesome trinket in the last patch of an expansion cycle.

I am also pretty sure that a gigantic amount of stamina trinket (or trinkets) from Ulduar will scratch where I itch for quite awhile.

I am definitely looking forward to pairing Greatness with Heart of Iron next patch.

You won't want the other stam trinket? ;-)

I agree to a point that stamina trinkets can be a bit boring, but while tanking the more passive strength a trinket has the better.

Trinkets (more than any other slot on your gear) should be fitted to the fight you are in. I generally use my Darkmoon card Greatness (agi) and the Valor medal of the first war to give me some really nice avoidance. I also have the Essence of Gossamer and a Monarch Crab for tanking Sarth. I still use my defender's code on patchwork because every bit of armor helps on a fight like that. For times when I need to maximize my threat I love to put on my Grim Toll. I can mix and match to "scratch where I itch" as Bornak put it in any scenario I might face. So bring on the Stam trinkets, bring on the avoidance trinkets, and bring on the threat and dps trinkets. I plan on haveing one of all of them.

Altering your stats to match up on a fight better? Preposterous.

yeah i just put on stamina in every slot and hit my keyboard with my palms

I hope you increase your skill enough soon to use forehead.

Q u o t e:
Did you mean 'passive stamina' instead of strength?

Because you're right if so. I believe the goal of all tanks is to increase your effective health; Which would mean increasing your HP and Armor. Every other stat (technically speaking) is worthless.

Strength was probably a poor choice of words, I was using it to the effect of like "power" - so the more passive power a trinket has the better for me. Like I am not too much of a fan of a trinket that has a powerful clicky but the passive bonus is just so-so.

Ohh now i get what you meant.

Yea, i prefer trinkets with a balance. I don't think there's been a better 'balanced' trinket since Shadowmoon Insignia :P

I am, however, hoping that when the epic JC trinkets come out they'll finally hit the sweet spot between a good passive & active bonus.

Yeah, an upgraded Commendation of Kael'thas would be the sweetest thing for me, but I wouldn't expect that anytime soon, heh.

Q u o t e:

are you talking about the one with the absorb proc?

No, just mentioning that there could very well be more than 1 stamina trinket.

Q u o t e:
I would certainly pick up a second powerful Stamina trinket but I won't always need all that Stamina, especially if I'm leaning towards heavier Agility in my normal gear later on in Ulduar.

Like you said later, swapping up gear as you need is crucial.

So when is another trinket on par with Greatness going to come out? Or am I going to have to wait until the next raid to see something with 180 Dodge rating on it?

I don't know if anything will top Greatness in it's pure stat boost glory, but stamina is pretty great when you are first trying to survive things - I agree though that over time you start to focus on other stats.
