Q u o t e:
I rarely hear complaints about how there have only been 5 battlegrounds total in 4 1/2 years of wow. All with the same map over & over.
Does that bother many people? I do see a lot of complaints over AV being horrible, but it is more of a joke now.
Why do you think they have neglected this area of the game for so long?
Would it help if we hinted at a new battleground as a part of an upcoming content patch? (Not the one on the PTR though.)
We've always discussed our concerns over adding too many battlegrounds into the equation. We want to make sure that there are players available so that if you want to play in a particular battleground, that you'll be able to. The cross-realm battlegrounds have made this more possible.
That said though, we released a new battleground with the last expansion, and we will be again with this expansion as well. We'll share more details with you when we're a bit further along in the release process, however.
As for the idea of additional maps for existing battlegrounds, we don't disagree that this could be a great way of continuing to bring some interest to existing battlegrounds.
Again though, we come to the issue of development time and resources. That's not to say we don't think such an investment wouldn't be worthwhile, but we have to be careful about how we utilize our resources. Our developers are human after all and the day only has 24 hours in it. We'd like to make sure we're getting the ultimate quality out to players and still maintaining a great place for everyone to work. We really do care about each other and support each other here. We're also full of ideas and enthusiasm the same as all of you are. But, we also need to maintain focus and figure out where our best efforts go and how we can continue to create a great gaming experience for everyone.
