World Events

I just started playing about 6 months ago, and am enjoying the game a lot, but after meandering around on WoWwiki a while, I found out that there were some really cool sounding world events that I have completely missed. :[ The one I read about was the pre-WotLK scourge invasion that came about and messed stuff up for everyone, and to be honest, this sounds awesome.

How often have these world events happened? Can anyone give me summaries? I would check on the wiki, but I'm at work and it's blocked for me. ;_;

Also, did you have to be level capped to survive these events, or did most everyone die anyway?

We have a world events team that, in addition to designing all of the holiday events, are always looking for ways to spice up Azeroth. I can't say there are any plans for an event like the zombie invasion, but we wouldn't rule such an event out if we feel it fits with whatever is happening in the game.

This. Zombie event was awesome, but due to all the whining, it was cut short and we'll probably never see anything like it again.

You can't say it was cut short enough to make it true. It ran its course exactly as planned prior to the aesthetic Frost Wyrm attacks.

It's an interruption of things you want to remain stagnant. It's hardcore, but so is Arthas. It's how he rolls. And when he rolls, he rolls entire villages.

Why am I not surprised that Zarhym laughs at his own jokes...

I found it funny that someone came to post in this thread with a quote back from the invasion days.

Zarhym secret: sometimes I do find myself funny though, often in sad ways.
