Q u o t e:
I wasn't around in the beginning of WOW. But I've seen this in every game I played. I think people just miss the newness of the game.
No matter how much better a game gets, nothing could ever replace the beginning when everything is new, things wow you, etc. For me as a player that started in BC, BC certainly holds that for me. And in other games like UO, pre UO:R held that for me as well.
It's that "falling in love for the first time" factor. It's hard to overcome the sense of feeling jaded after a time. Every gamer goes through it no matter the type of game they are playing. They are looking for the reemergence of that first thrill. When Wrath of the Lich Kin started, people were enthusiastic and generally very positive. As time has gone by, I think people have settled in and gotten comfortable. They're wearing their cozy pajamas with the holes in them and may feeling stuck in a rut. There are a lot of elements in the game that perhaps they just haven't tried out or they may just need to take a breather and get back some of their initial love by rediscovering the game.
We're not going to go backward, but perhaps by going forward, we can bring you something new again for you to enjoy. I think many people are going to truly enjoy the Argent Tournament if they are looking for something new solo content wise (for the upper level players). Others will get a chance to see what we have in store in Ulduar as well and hopefully, they'll get to understand a little better just how important this dungeon is. And as always, we aren't stopping there. We have much more in store for additional patches and beyond.
Our goal as ever is to create great gaming experiences. That's not going to change now or ever no matter any other perceptions people may have. This is why we take care to look at all the feedback that comes in and really assess it when it comes to our own future vision. We'll keep adding on and adding in to continue to make a great game.
