If you can make Herald of the Titans, Why...

If you can make an achievement that is based on ilvl of gear such as the new 10man Herald of the Titans, this begs the question...

Why can you not just change all the Glory of the Raider(Heroic) achievements to work like this?

The original concept of removing these was purely based on the achievements and encounters becoming trivial with the addition of Ulduar gear. By limiting the ilvl of gear level of those going for these achievements, would this not accomplish the same goal?

Or is it Blizzard's contention that the class balance changes make the "Big 3" achievements (3D, Immortal, 6minute) trivial? If that is your belief, I am not going to argue the point that most of these changes are meant to balance classes and some classes have seen significant nerfs to their output in healing and damage.

We want to keep the Black/Plagued drakes very rare.

Removing the mount:
Positive - keeps it rare.
Negative - pisses people off, removes play incentives and replayability.

Gear limiting the achievement:
Positive - keeps it rare.
Negative - ?

Removing the mount ensures it is kept very rare and gives players something to shoot for when a new dungeon is released.

Putting in the gear limiting part would keep it only somewhat rare, but over time players would continue to collect them and then they wouldn't be nearly as special or unique.

It keeps them non existent. People who already have these mounts will get the ones from Ulduar in 2 months and those same people will use the "Runed" versions instead of the Glory ones.

We are okay with this as the top end Arena mounts are in the same situation and we like how it has worked in that aspect of the game so far.

I get that you (Blizzard) want to keep the mounts rare. What I don't get is why.

So there is something to work for as the top prize of the PvE side of the game that won't get really watered down as patch after patch goes by. There are a lot of things that are easy to get in the game, we want to feel like these were earned.

Much of the conflict is do to the original statement that they were being removed because the new ilevel gear would make the achievements easy.

That this now says to many players is that the new policy it to release in game limited edition mounts and expect them to be removed on a regular basis. The Armani bear was the first, the Naxx mounts second and the Ulduar mounts third. Also your posts take on the theme of play with people who can get these mounts for you in the limited time and not with your friends who may just not be up to the task.

Personally I have no problem if the post was that mount X would be avaliable to obtain in Y months and just leave it at that. It is the fact that the original post stated that they are being removed because if the gear ilevel and now that the mechanism is in game to eliminate the original reason people are simply asking for a statement that makes sense. If I read this statement correct you are just trying to say we wanted to remove them. If true please just say that.

Gear is part of the factor, but overall we want there to be some things that have a limited time to get and therefore are items that are more cherished and greater value when earned. We may remove one thing but then others would be added in the future. Yes, we wanted to remove them.
