The Big Problem With Feral PvP

To put it simply, there are far too many requirements to put out decent damage. While this is fine for PvE, it just doesn't work for PvP.

What 3.1 is doing so far is making savage roar and rip stronger to boost our damage, but what does this do for PvP? Both savage roar and rip are finishing moves, that means we need to spend all our combo points to keep both up, leaving nothing for maim. To generate combo points effectively we need to be in melee range, we need to be behind our target, we need to have a bleed up, and we need to have mangle up. That is a lot of requirements for damage output, especially in PvP where CC is being thrown around all over the place.

But what about mangle spam? Well with the primal gore talent needing 5 points into rend & tear, there is no way to make a decent mangle build, it essentially forces us into a shred build.

How to fix it? We need to be able to drop savage roar from our PvP rotation and not lose a huge amount of damage. Nerf savage roar, buff primal gore back to including rake. Removing rend and tear as a requirement for primal gore would also allow a decent mangle build which would remove the headache of all the requirements for shred.

The main issue we are running into here is that the PvE dps, when pulled off properly, can be pretty high and that is what has caused some of the nerfs in 3.1. We recognize that maximizing PvE dps can require a fairly complex rotation which doesn't translate very well to PvP dps and we are considering some changes to improve that in the future.

One example would be to make Rend and Tear include mangle in its damage bonuses or add a glyph of some kind that affects more PvP centric abilities.

We are just trying to be very careful to not be so focused on one aspect of the game (PvE or PvP) that we over do it in the other one.

Q u o t e:

1) Glyph of Primal Gore: "Primal Gore now also affects Rake, but your Savage Roar ability is reduced to 20% damage."

Something similar to this was discussed recently, but I wouldn't expect it to happen in 3.1.

Sweet.

Make those devs get cracking on new art for druid forms while you're at it!

Hey, OFF TOPIC!

We are working on this as well, we just want to make sure it gets done right and we aren't just throwing polar bear skins out there.
