**Battle Net account - Log-in Difficulties**

So I first experienced this issue a few days ago, about a week after i merged my Bnet account. There were lots of threads here on the CS forum, and I took all the actions recommended by users here, including
Resetting my UI
Restarting my computer
Opening ports for bnet
Editing the realmlist file.

None of these fixed it, instead the problem (seemingly) resolved itself.

Today, it's back. I enter my username, password, and authenticator. (If i mistype something, I get kicked back to the login screen) After that I get the following error message:

"Unable to connect. Please try again later. If the problem persist, please contact technical support at [technical support link here]"

I am trying to log in and at first I thought it was a authenticator issue. Well I removed the authenticator from my account and changed my password and I still can't log in. It's telling me that my login or password is incorrect but I know its not since I logged in to write this post.

Are you logging in with your Battle.net account or are you logging in with your World of Warcraft Account?

Ah, I see. You have removed the Authenticator from your account and are still being asked for the Authenticator code, correct?

Greetings all,

I'm trying to get an update on this issue but I wanted to make sure that everyone has tried the following troubleshooting steps.

http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=16019992174&sid=1
Q u o t e:

1. Check connection settings. (Windows users only) Start the system Control panel and view the connection options:
Windows XP users - Click Start -> Settings -> Control panel -> Internet options
Windows Vista users - Click Start -> Control Panel -> Network and Internet -> Internet Options

Once viewing the Internet Options window, click on the connections tab in the Internet properties window, then the LAN Settings button, and make sure that the "Automatically detect settings" checkbox and the "Use a Proxy server" checkbox is not selected. If either of these are selected, please un-check these boxes and then click OK to save changes, and try the connection to the game after this.

Note: This step is for people that have these options set where they should not be set. Please make sure to check your general web browsing and email after this step, as if your connection does require a proxy connection you may have to re-enable this option to connect to the internet correctly.

2. Realm connection settings. Open the World of Warcraft folder on your hard drive (Default Folder: C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft or C:\Users\Public\Games\World of Warcraft for Vista users, Applications folder for Mac users). Open the Data, and then the enUS folder. Open the Realmlist.wtf file using a text editor, like WordPad. Make sure the lines in the file match the following:

set realmlist us.logon.worldofwarcraft.com
set patchlist us.version.worldofwarcraft.com
set realmlistbn "us.logon.battle.net"
set portal us

If you need to, you can copy and paste these lines over any that are incorrect, save the file and close the file, and try the game once more.

3. Firewall/Router Port settings. Anytime your computer receives incoming data, it is sent to a "port". Your computer has many ports that can receive data, and different activities will utilize different ports. World of Warcraft uses TCP port numbers 1119 and 3724 to play and UDP port 3724 for in game Voice chat.

You will need to ensure the above ports are open in order for World of Warcraft to connect correctly. If you are using a router, you may also need to set up port forwarding for these specific ports as well. You can find further information on how to configure firewalls and routers on our Networking help page - http://us.blizzard.com/support/article/21086.

Please go to this link for more information on how to open the appropriate ports for your proxy or firewall: http://us.blizzard.com/support/article/21015

Please review the quoted information above, especially item 2.
