"7) Long-term, we'll have to see how it goes in the Arena this season. As I have offered before, rogues were originally designed to be the guys who surprise an enemy and beat them down before anyone knows what happens. That is certainly iconic for the rogue class in RPGs and other media. But it also just isn't much fun for the victim. We have been moving away the stealth -> stunlock -> 100% to 0% in a few GCDs phenomenon (which to be fair, is pretty wildly exaggerated in the first place). We have chilled out the CC and the burst. At this point we don't think we can chill it out much more without giving rogues more staying power to just sit in combat and melee (which we don't think they have a ton of right now). We can imagine a PvP rogue that stuns less and stands and fights more, but again that's a big change, and it's not in the cards for 3.1. If you think that kind of direction is interesting or terrible, we would love to get your feedback (though probably not in this specific thread).

GC;

PERSONALLY IMO I would love to see the stun locking go away. Honestly they aren't fun FOR ME AS A ROGUE. What is fun about hitting an immobile target? I know its what we HAVE to do right now, or we really don't stand a chance, but if you are considering moving away from stun locking I am all for it. ASSUMING you give us what we need to survive. What that is, I honestly do not know. I know you are aware of how squishy we are so that is obviously something you would need to look at before you considered doing away with the stun locking method.

I just wanted to start this up because personally I hate stun locking AS a rogue. It's stupid to me that the only way we can kill things is by making them "dead" at the start by not being able to move or do anything. HOWEVER I am also aware that is the ONLY way right now for us to begin to hurt an opponent. GC stated -

So there is MY feedback. I would not mind at all if the stun locking (even tho the 100-0 IS "wildly exaggerated", it IS) went away. Obviously you have to make up for the stun locking in a major way or we are, well, just dead all the time. You know this even tho soo many of my fellow rogues think you have no clue what is going on with this game. LEADs usually don't know anything thats how they get the LEAD in their job title :/(end sarcasm) so I am not the one to give an opinion on how or what to do to tone down the stun locking method and open up other, and for me at least, more enjoyable ways to pvp with my rogue.

Anyway, thanks for reading and hopefully there will be some constructive comments about moving away from stun locking. Remember he stated "but again that's a big change, and it's not in the cards for 3.1. If you think that kind of direction is interesting or terrible, we would love to get your feedback" so we have time to give our opinions. Lets do like he asked and do it in a mature way that HELPS our class.

I can't think of any good idea's to throw out there right now that would make up for the loss of stun locking, but I know there are some of you out there that do, so lets hear them.

How about replying in the thread in which he said it?

We normally try to discourage players forking a thread into two threads on the same topic. But in this case, I was trying to not have a thread on Hunger for Blood in PvP derailed by feedback on how to make rogues viable (and fun!) in PvP without relying too much on chain stuns and high burst damage.

So this seems like as good a place as any for that discussion.
