Wintergrasp on the PTR: Why?

<quote>Daily quests “Slay Them All!” (Horde) and “No Mercy for the Merciless” (Alliance) have had their PvP kill requirements reduced to 10 from 20. NPCs defending the fortress and south towers now count toward these dailies as well.</quote>

Curious as to why this quest was softened so dramatically? Maybe it's a factor of being on a realm that has pretty active WGing going on, I don't know, but this quest almost always gets completed in a single battle in WG. Plus adding NPCs to it? It's a PvP zone, why does it feel like there's a push to take the PvP out of the PvP zone? First there was the buffing of daily quest item drops to 100% (and getting 5 now off a player kill), now this?

Seems... odd.

Wouldn't keeping it at 20 encourage this even more?

In my experience it often takes close to the whole fight for me to get the 20 kills. There can easily be 2 raid present so I don't get credit for a lot of the kills. With the number down to 10 and NPCs counting I can focus less on completing the quest and more on completing the objectives, even while defending.

I've always stood by the thought that if I didn't complete there's always another 2.5 hours until the next attempt.

If I don't complete it that day, there's more than 25 other daily quests available to me to fill my needs. You can get more honour fromone BG is the same amount of time. Seems that you guys are just making it easier with no real reason to have it "easy" because it wasn't hard in the first place. There in lies the error of development, you are forgetting the reasons why you should be PVPing and why combat is the bread and butter of it, not leechers coming into WG just to do their daily for the day and be gone.

Don't forget that the battle event itself is objective based and we are working on changing things to make completing the objectives happen on a more regular basis. While each server is different, I haven't seen a success defense is recent memory as they are just there to slow down the offense and get their kills then head out.

We succesfully defend about 75% of the time.

Our horde team needs help.

Do you have stats on successful defending you can share?

I don't have any stats, but overall the offense tends to win and if the defense wins it's just by delaying things long enough at the fortress, not by taking out the tower objectives - we are hoping these changes improve on the game play for this event.

We're typically taking out towers to win. Those 10 minutes work in our favor and we go after towers seriously.

On offense, we rarely get to demolishers. 16 catapults is more than our horde side can handle.

Defenders taking out towers, I haven't seen this on my realm like ever, heh. We hope these changes bring out this play style more to the point where when an offense ignores the southern towers it will regularly lose to the defenders. If this is already happening on your realm, you shouldn't notice much of a difference, maybe just see more players getting involved in the objective areas.

one word: Mines!

Put freaking mines around the castle that respawn if you dont take out the goblin mine layers and such. ;) These were such a PITA in AV back in the day. ;)

Spreading out players more is another goal with bringing the southern towers more into play.
