Do we have a chance in WoW?

I am speaking for ALL new players (Newbs)

Reason we ask that question is that we see alot of hate towards new players.

What happens if we dont know how to tank yet, to DPS the right way or to heal?
What happens when we get to lvl 70..or 80?

We dont know the instances (I plan on reading up on them).

We dont know alot of things about the Class we play yet. We are working our way up...

But tell us where we stand..Should we invest the time in even playing or just wait for a brand new server where everyone is NOT "Uber"?

We see alot of people stating that if you have no experience ect ect to not even bother applying to "this" or "that" guild.

Why???? Is it too hard to help a new player (possible guild mate) to become better? To maybe one day help YOUR guild succeed? Will it backtrack you so much you cant stand it? Then why even play an "MMO"? There are plenty Single player games where you can be all alone.

Do we have a chance in WoW or are we faced with seeing a solo game till 80 and that's it?

Are there any guilds out there that take in new players? I am speaking for alot of people I am sure.

Where do we stand?

Thanks

New players absolutely have a chance. The Getting Started forum is a great place to find other new players and get information from other players who like helping. While it may seem like there is a large prevalance of players who get down on new players, those are just the more vocal players. For the most part, I've found people are generally pretty excited to learn that someone is completely new to the game and are willing to help them out.

I tend to take time myself to help new players whether it's just directing them to their trainers, helping them find a bank, giving them a new bag or some gold, or even running a new character of my own with them and helping.

I think what bothers the more experienced players the most is when someone doesn't try to learn on their own at all. You seem like you're willing to learn and excel, you just need given a little guidance. You'll be fine and I have no doubt you'll find the right group of people to play with.

You might also want to find a guild that is new player friendly that focuses on helping their members level and learn. There are many out there and more are created every day. :)

Good luck and I hope you find the right group to enjoy your time with!

Do you think blizzard does a good job at teaching players how to play from within the game?

I don't think they do and this is the reason you have so many "noobs" running around that don't know how to play their class. For instance without downloading a mob it would be hard to evaulate yourself to know how much dps you were doing. The tooltips and the character sheet don't adequately explain what each statistic is doing for you. Then when people do go on the web to figure things out there are many different guides explaining many different versions of the game. If a warrior finds a 10month old guide on how to tank as protection it isn't going to be the very helpful and will probably confuse them since many game mechanics do a 180.

I wish instead of actually making the game easier they instead put tools into the hands of these "casuals" who probably have enough time to play but not enough time to spend researching the game.

We're always open to constructive feedback. I'd like to think that we continue to advance in this, however, given the way the way we handled the death knight starting area. While it wouldn't necessarily be something we could do for all classes at the start (it would take extensive retooling) there may be alternate ways of doing this. All in all though, I think that the progression of quests and abilities is pretty good right now. That said, the door is always open for improvement.

Our ultimate goal is to create a great gaming experience for players and that is a neverending part of our work. If we can find a way to do it better, we will. Make no doubt about that.

I think it's also important to note that even the "pros" or more experienced players continue to work on learning new things. I know I'm always looking to continue to learn and grow as well. Anyone who says they know it all are just fooling themselves. :)
