Realm/Name Change look up

I'm trying to look up a few friends/former guildmates of mine. They transfered realms and appear to have changed their names in the process as well. I read through the Paid Character Transfer FAQ section and couldn't find if this was possible. I was wondering 1.) If this is possible to do with the help of Blizzard staff? 2.) If it is, how would I go about doing so? And 3.) If it's not possible, would opening a new thread in WoW's General Forum with their former names be allowed? There appears to be no rules against doing so in the rules/regulations of the general forum, however I was unsure if trying to address a select few people from the game would constitute spam. Just trying to cover all my bases so if I go about doing this, it is within the guidelines of the forum.

Apologies if this is also in the wrong forum. This appears to be a rather unique problem, since I have yet to find anything on it.
