Why not roll back some servers?

PVP is dead. Classes are unbalanced. End game PVE is easy and short, its a joke. World PVP is non-existent. Gold is to easy to get and is to abundant. 40 man raids are no more. Everything is instanced these days. The arena rating system isn't fair. BGs are a joke, including the once great AV. Leveling has been nerfed to nothing. City raids are pointless and easy. Every class does to much damage. The wall jumping nerf took the simple fun of exploring out of the game. The point is things aren't like they were in the good ol days when many of us fell in love with this game. The solution?

Create a few servers which are dedicated to wow as it was before all these troubles. Make a few servers rolled back to say.. patch 1.7 and 2.4, and let people play the game as it used to be, massive, chaotic, and fun.

Now some may say this is not a sound business move, but all blizz has to do is limit access to those servers to those who already have WOTLK and BC installed to insure people still have to buy the xpacs.

The point is there are countless people who have already quit, or are planning to, simply because the current game isn't what it used to be, what harm is it to open up a few servers for those who want to play the old WoW?

Everything we do in the game is to help improve it from an overall point of view. We will continue to make new additions and improvements to make a bigger better game to provide the best entertainment experience.

Link to where they said that?

The cost outweighs the benefit and it's not in the direction we want to/are taking with the game.

We can't admit all the mistakes we've made in two Xpacs.

No doubt not everything that has been implemented has turned out as great as we have wanted and yes, there have been some mistakes. That said, we learn form our mistakes and aim to continue making the game bigger and better.

How come no one ever wants to make a game smaller and worse?

Well, our goal is to deliver on game play and this is something that is continually evolving and we aim to have the game evolve with it.

at what point did nerfing mana regen become an improvement?

Class design is tricky, while players tend to see any nerf as a negative, you have to keep in mind that continually buffing everything leads to issues - like what is the point in having mana if you can cast anything and everything without working about it? So we have to keep the whole game in mind when making changes and improvements.

No. everything you do is to increase your bottom line and maximize your subscriber numbers as to ensure maximum profits. Improvement now means more profit, not better quality of the content. Those of us that have been playing since or near the beginning have watched the slow but steady decline. The game was very profitable when it had actual quality but that wasn't enough.

What happened, Bornakk? Was it selling to Vivendi? Activision? When a large portion of original team left? Can you pinpoint the specific time when you guys quit caring and starting phoning it in? I have my suspicions. What part of Vivendi's profit was from WoW? Of Activisons? I dont know if you guys were strong armed into dumbing down the game to make it more profitable for your parent companies or it as a choice by blizzard to grab more market share but ultimately the result is the same.

Not that my rant matters much but I know there are others that feel the same. Your profits came before the fanbase, whether the fans realize it or not. The sad thing is you could have maintained quality and still be rolling in money. I suppose 8,9 million subscribers isn't quite as dramatic as 12 million nor as lucrative.

I know I can't stop the cloak and dagger conspiracy theorists, but if we didn't care, we wouldn't be making a truckload of class changes for balance in patch 3.1 and I wouldn't be here chatting. We care a great deal about the game and we feel it has improved greatly over the years.

Based on my playing experience, nostalgia is strong with this topic, but like I said, it isn't the direction we want to take the game so I wouldn't expect it to happen.
