Blizz game development time is false

What sucks is knowing that it really doesn't take this long for blizz to develop games. Starcraft II development started shortly after the launch of Warcraft III: Frozen Throne (2003)? Diablo III was already in development by the time the Blizzard North executives left (June 30, 2003)?

WTF?! I'll tell you wtf... it's all about marketing schedule. They milk the player base for all they're worth. Yeah it would have been nice to have S2 two or three years ago when so many of us got bored of wow. This summer would have been a great time to see diablo 3 when most of us would have been bored of S2 and ready to scream at the 3rd expansion of wow coming. But no, they have hype development for as long as we can stand and milk us to death with years of expansions for ONLY ONE GAME.

So because of this I get to watch painfully, 2 or three more wow expansions of the same crap recycled and pvp getting worse and worse--maybe if we're lucky have S2 this summer or winter in 3 painful race releases each year or so. Diablo 3, what most of us really want, is probably still several years away.

No I don't expect them to stop making decisions that line their pockets. It would just be nice if they moved to satisfying players with at least two current games at a given time--say an MMO and an RTS or RPG at the same time. For years we should not only get one type of game from them (mmo) for a developer their size.

You make it sound like we have completed games sitting on the back burner just waiting to be released. It's not the case.

This post is far from an insight into the development and marketing of a game.
