On the lift on casino bans....

I'm curious to the reasoning behind this. These were already banned years ago because of the excessive spam they created, and the excessive amounts of scamming involved in them. Does blizzard really have faith in people's ability to change? It just seems to me like the exact same problems are going to arise again: excessive spam, angry players, the controversy of gambling, and numerous scams.

Yes, one from Malkorix. You'll also note that the blues have been silent on the matter since that mistake by Mal.

Casinos are, in and of themselves, not currently against our policies.

That said, we are monitoring the practice and the overall response to it very, very actively.

As I stated in my prior post:
While this practice may not, in an of itself, necessarily represent a violation at the moment, there are activities associated with running an in-game casino which certainly can represent violations; such as spamming or scamming.

Also, if it appears that this practice is being abused or is simply having a deleterious effect on the game play environment, we are certainly willing to revise our stance on the subject. Please remember that our ultimate goal is to provide the best and most fun environment for all our players.

It remains unwise to run an in-game casino, as it is inherently risky. Merely because you can do something does not mean that you should.

If Blizzard was to keep every pinned thread that was made by them, each forum would be 30 pages long until you got to an actual player post. It was moved because their policy changed, until a pinned thread of a similar nature is produced by Blue, then that post still holds the most credit over anything that has been posted on this matter.

Blue have been wrong before, which is why i'm wanting something truly official, not just a post really replying about the spamming/scamming aspect of it. I want a pinned thread stating simply: "Casinos are now once again permitted in game. However scamming and spamming is not permitted and people violating those rules will be prosecuted accordingly. Play and host at your own risk."

Until such an actual official post, Blue are just making a mistake.

Rules can and do change Teddy. The post you are referring to is years old.

They may change again.

The Suggestion Forum is indeed the proper place to post your comments, opinions and recommendations on this.

Two words.

Supported feature.

^ This. While not a direct violation of policy, player run casinos are not a supported feature and it's wisest to avoid using them or operating them.

I will be locking this thread now.
