Spirit Wolves: Fixes, not Buffs

I’m not asking for buffs. I’m asking for fixes. Enhance is horrible in pvp. Wolves were intended to be one of our core pvp abilities. Unfortunately, bugs prevent them from serving their purpose. I am highly skeptical that the new 3.1 pvp buffs will make enhance viable. But if wolves are still buggy when 3.1 launches we still won’t know how well these new buffs will balance us. All we will know is that our core pvp ability is still bugged.

1. Wolves AI is horrible. It has been horrible since the launch of WOTLK. The wolves are slow to respond and often completely unresponsive. It is discouraging to get rooted, launch my wolves, and hit spirit walk four or five times before it finally responds, if it ever does.

2. Unless this has been recently patched, Wolves lack standard pet avoidance. They go down much faster than any similar pet.

If you are serious about fixing enhance for pvp, wolves must be addressed. Leaving them in their current state effectively ensures that enhance won’t be viable for pvp in 3.1.

We added AE avoidance to the shadowfiend, wolves, water and fire elementals, and treants I believe.

The avoidance does work in PvP. My earlier comment meant to imply that pets are a big liability on those raid damage events because they just die without avoidance. But it does let them survive AE in PvP also, such as Bladestorm and Whirlwind. That is a (small) nerf to warriors.

We don't make classes with temporary pets buy avoidance, because honestly they wouldn't spend the talents etc. on a temporary pet. It is not nearly the power multiplier that a hunter, warlock or DK pet is. But I can see the argument that avoidance is just an unalienable right for all pets and we might eventually just give it to them all. (We probably won't make this change for 3.1 because it involves changing a couple of DK talents and redoing all the pet talent trees.)

We can give it to Mirror Images. They are extremely frail.

Q u o t e:
After 15 seconds wolves are completely unresponsive. I haven't been able to use my 2nd spirit walk since 3.08. You have completely dodged the question in this thread AND another thread.

I am going to "dodge" about 90% of the questions posed in these forums. If you're reported the bug, then someone will take a look at it. I don't want to set up the expectation that by asking a question you are guaranteed a response, and that by asking the question over and over you have a better chance of getting a response.
