The Sword That Disenchanted Itself !!

Let me preface this by saying that my sword was returned to me by a GM a little over an hour later and I continue to be impressed by the great support staff this game has.

Here's what happened:

Around 12:00 am server time on wednesday morning/tuesday night I died while our raid was doing Grobbulus in 25 Naxx. Loot was passed out while I lay there because we needed to wait for the green clouds to dissapate anyway. Once possible, I got my rez and we all moved up the ramp to the pipe to prepare ourselves for Gluth when I noticed that my main hand sword, "Life and Death", was not equipped or in my packs!

Needless to say I freaked out in vent. Any caster familiar with Northrend loot tables knows Life and Death is the second best caster sword currently in game. Its the crown jewel of my current raid gear set. I love this sword! *cry*

We looked at the chatlog and noticed that while I was dead in Grobulus' room the phrase "Stimuli receives Abyss Crystal" popped up!

Obviously I could not have disenchanted an item while I was dead so we assume it to be a bizarre glitch or bug.

The GM said they have not encountered an incident like this before but the issue will be "looked into".

Im starting a thread about this because I wanted to know if any other players out there have had this happen to them or heard of it happening before.
If a piece of gear can just suddenly disenchant itself through no action of the player then we should all fear for the gear we currently have equipped.

Like I said, the sword was returned to me a little over an hour later with its enchant still on it and I was even allowed to keep the Abyss Crystal ......but I really want to know......

How could this possibly happen?

I don't see this going anywhere involving anything pretty, so I'm gonna lock it.

As much as I'd love to pursue this odd occurrence, you likely accidentally disenchanted the sword instead of some other item and didn't notice it until later.
