Blizzard Authenticators

I am sure this has been asked before but I have been waiting weeks for a Blizzard Authenticator. My friend just got hacked and his computer is always kept up to date and he never buys gold or items from other sites and I have never known him to download any torrents or use bear share or limewire. He always has up to date antivirus defs as well. He is a really up to speed guy and he has been hacked 4 times. He even changed computers between the 2nd and 3rd time being hacked. It is a big concern to me that the Blizzard authenticator has been sold out for this long. When will these be back in stock? I would buy one from E-Bay if people didn't jack up the prices.

If this process is being re-engineered because of people exploiting this process to make money then I understand. If I received some kind of email or note on my account offering this to me then I would jump on this.

Will these be available soon? It is just smart business and if Blizzard wants to cut down on accounts being hacked. I would think they would have just sent these out free with the WotLK expansion.

The rate of Blizzard Authenticator restock within our Online Store, Zengetsu, is dependent on the rate of production—a facet over which Blizzard Entertainment does not possess direct purview.

While you've my utmost apologies for any delay your friend has experienced, please know that we regularly provide additional supply as it becomes available to us. Encourage your friend to check with our Online Store frequently. Perhaps during the morning hours, if possible, as this is when many fellow players have noted successful purchase. :)

In the meantime, refer your friend to following post. While the possession of a Blizzard Authenticator will greatly bolster one's security, it is not reason to forgo lateral measures.

Q u o t e:
Along with account names and passwords, it's possible for registered email addresses to be compromised, as well. Because of this, we encourage you to update your registered email address as quickly as possible to prevent repeat compromise.

It's also important that you do not simply re-register an old or currently-active address. Any email address which may have been in use at the time of compromise may be at risk, so it's best to set up a new one from a computer you know to be secure.

When selecting the username and password for this new email address, ensure that these variables do not overlap with that of your WoW account or any other login type (guild websites, Facebook, MySpace, etc). Once this address is registered to your account, do not use it for anything else: no additional registrations, no guild websites, no newsletter sign-ups, et al. Keep this address isolated.

Should you be unable to register this new address yourself, please contact our Billing & Account Services Department for assistance.

If either you or your friend possess any additional questions, please let me know. I wish both you and he the best. :)

Did you set-up a new email address between these separate compromises, Sindel? Possessing access to a registered email address gives a would-be unauthorized party quite a bit of latitude.

If you have not created and registered a wholly new email address since your most recent compromise, I would sincerely advise that you do so now. :)

Just be sure that the email associated with this new account—or with any Battle.net Account you may set up in the future—is not one that was active at the time of any of your compromises, Sindel. This will help bolster your security significantly.

I wish you the best of luck and thank you for your dedication, fortitude, and patience. Please let me know if you've any additional questions and concerns. :)
