Ulduar Gear - Lackluster at BEST.

I don't know what Blizzard's goals are going foward in WoW or how much of their staff has been moved to the new MMO, but I've been keeping a close watch on how Ulduar is playing out and I have to say that I'm already disappointed...

Every shoulder piece that I've seen is recycling the same model AND colour from their respective Tier sets.

Every Leather shoulder with spell power on it uses the Druid Tier Set model.
Every Leather shoulder with Attack Powr usues the Rogue Tier Set Model.
Every Plate shoulder with Spell power usus the Paladin Tier Set model.
etc etc etc....

This isn't only the shoulder models, it's also the same for chest pieces, legs, gloves etc. EVERYTHING.

People are already complaining about walking around looking like every other person in Dalaran and the gear in Ulduar is going to make it WORSE. At least in Naxx, all the non set tier pieces had a model that they shared so the sets were still "Unique". Lets not even start on the fact that Tier 7 is already recycled from Tier 3.

I guess Blizzard wanted to take "Class Homogenization" to the next level by making everyone look identical too.

They should just cut out the middle man and dress all the characters like women from the middle east. Black robes and veils.
Or better yet, give every class an ability called "God Mode" that's an 8 second cast and allows you to switch between classes, specs and gear freely.

I have nothing against "casual" players earning epics and clearing raids. I DO have a problem with blatant laziness and lack of effort.

WotLK is effectively draining every shred of fun and sense of accomplishment out of raiding as a whole. And that's pretty sad because according to Blizzard, Endgame content IS World of Warcraft. It's a shame that something as small as this can "break the camel's back" but logging on is getting harder and harder to do.

/end rant.

This is really an ongoing debate. Itemization is truly a very tricky subject, particularly when talking about non-tier Ulduar armor. It's a balancing act. We have to maintain a certain amount of solidarity in each role to make certain that the pieces given do not mis-match and add up to an ugly whole. On the other hand, when we do this, we lose diversity, but in so doing, we maintain a good solid well polished look. In the past, players have been very vocal about the contrast in gear and the less-than-optimal visual appeal of matching particular set and non-set items. Our solution to this has been to make certain that we match these sets in the most appropriate fashion.

This was, indeed, an issue and this is how we are addressing it for the time being.
