Battle.net, 3 accounts, 3 authenticators ?

Ok, here is the deal.

I have 3 WoW accounts, all in my name, same contact info. etc. I also have 3 authenticators - each account has its own. I have created my battle.net account and merged only one of my accounts (this one) with battle.net.

I see where I can associate an authenticator with my battle.net account (I have not done that yet). If I do that and merge the other two account with battle.net, what happens to the authenticators associated with them?

Will I have to have 2 authenticators to log into the game? One to get me to battle.net and one for the account or will tying battle.net to an account automatically remove the authenticator associated with that account from that account? I'm just a little confused how this will all work.

For various reasons I would prefer to keep each account with its own authenticator instead of tying all 3 to a single authenticator. If I don't associate an authenticator with the battle.net account will the game continue to ask for the correct authenticator code when I go to log in?

I've tried reading the FAQ's but it just got me confused, could someone explain how it will work to me?
thanks.

Each Battle.net account can only have one authenticator attached to it. If you want to have each World of Warcraft account under it's own authenticator, but also want to have the beautiful new Battle.net accounts, you can make three Battle.net accounts under three e-mails and have one World of Warcraft on each Battle.net account.

There is nothing wrong with doing that, it just gets a little complicated. Being able to have multiple World of Warcraft accounts under one Battle.net account for streamlined log-ins is kind of meant to simplify things for you ;-)

Q u o t e:
What if I do not associate an authenticator to my bnet account, but associate all 3 accounts with the bnet log in? Will that create a situation where I log into the game with the same info, but still have a separate authenticator associated with each account?

If you have an authenticator on your World of Warcraft account and merge it into your Battle.net account, it merges the authenticator as well. So technically the first account you associate will have the authenticator you would use on the Battle.net account.

Q u o t e:
So with that said authenticators are becoming less avoidable.

While Authenticators are a great additional layer of security, effectively developing secure computing habits can be a powerful method of keeping your Battle.net account safe as well, Archery.

I recommend reviewing our Computer Security Recommendations page which gives a lot of helpful tips for keeping your computer safe and secure:
