Possible Dual Spec Issues

Even though i like the idea of dual specing...won't this cause a problem within raid groups and possibly even eliminate the need for certain classes and/or spec s? This will now give groups the option to cut down on the number of players to fill raids if players can just switch from one spec to another and it could even cause a problems within raid for looting as well because many more will be rolling on items for their primary and secondary spec. Of course, this issue will have to be addressed by the raid leaders and guild masters, but then again, many raids are pugged and the raid leader has no idea what is primary and secondary spec to a number of classes.

I already know players that fight for items that are for their secondary spec, so I'm not sure it will be very different. You will likely know if a Paladin was dpsing or healing in a fight and be able to prioritize where the 2 handed weapon goes to. Duual Specs could make this a bit more complicated, but I don't think it will be much more than what players already deal with.

As for cutting down on players, I don't think this will happen much. You can switch and buff but that won't be very reliable and there is no reason to get rid of someone if they can switch to another spec, and if someone hasn't purchased the new feature, the others can work around that.

Q u o t e:
Any chance after dual spec has been out that we are able to purchase additional "spec tabs" for another 1000g? i constantly respec from tank dps and heal as needed and used in a previous explain loathweb req. 1 tank not 1 war and 2 pally offtanks and myself and our OT pally got good ret gear just i'm the only one wanting to go spend 50g to dps for 1 fight.

There are no plans for this at the moment. It's possible more could be added in the future, anything is possible, but we want to see how the feature works in players' hands first.

My question is: how difficult do you think this implementation would be? obviously dual spec required tons of new code from the design team to implement. will implementing a third spec require anything near as much work? if so, the net gain from the same amount of work would have severely dropped.

However, if it would be a fairly simple change, being that the feature already exists, they just need to expand it a bit more, it seems like the amount of gain you could get form a small amount of work would be very good, and thus yield a good chance of actual implementation (assuming the designers felt the change was a good one in the first place)

I have no idea how difficult it would be as I didn't do it. It probably wouldn't be nearly as complicated as coming up with the system in the first place though. Keep in mind we also don't want to just start tossing out extra specs like candy.
