Blue Skeletal Warhorse?

New Mounts

* Blue Skeletal Warhorse - Summons and dismisses a rideable Blue Skeletal Warhorse. This is a very fast mount.
* White Kodo - Summons and dismisses a rideable White Kodo.
* Venomhide Ravasaur - Summons and dismisses a rideable Venomhide Ravasaur. This is a very fast mount.
* Coralshell Turtle - Summons and dismisses a rideable Coralshell Turtle. This is a very fast mount, both on land and in water.

So if it wasn't enough that the Baron Rivendare mount is simply just a blue version of the undead mount, you now ADD a blue skeletal warhorse?! As one of the many people who farmed strat for way to long to get a rare mount, this is pretty disappointing (even if the blue skeletal warhorse is rare itself).

The Blue Skeletal Warhorse to which you're referring was put in by mistake and has since been changed to a Black Skeletal Horse. It is not the same mount that Baron Rivendare drops.

From the most recent 3.1 PTR Notes going up on our site shortly regarding this mount:

Q u o t e:
Three new mounts are available from Horde mount vendors, equalizing the number of purchasable normal and epic mounts: the Black Wolf, the White Kodo, and the Black Skeletal Horse (in Orgrimmar, Bloodhoof Village, and Brill respectively).

Then that would make it 4 lvl 30 mounts and 2 lvl 60 mounts, whereas all the others have 3/3.

I hold out hope that it's a typo of some kind.

Unfortunately, you are correct. There was originally a mistake made where Baron's mount was added as the faction mount. This was because the model for Baron's mount was assumed to be a different one at the time. When we realized the mistake, we didn't want to give out a mount for which so many people have had to grind to get. At the last minute it was changed to the Skeletal Black Horse to provide another unique look while still equalizing the number of faction mounts for Horde and Alliance. The down side of this is that the Forsaken will now have four tier-2 mounts, and two tier-1 mounts.

I don't get why the mistake with Baron's mount equates to making the Black horse a lvl 30 mount. Another explanation?

It essentially means we thought we had additional art assets to add in another warhorse, when it ended up being a mix-up between the Naxrammas Skeletal Warhorses, and Baron's Warhorse in Stratholme.

We don't want to sell the Stratholme mount, and we definitely don't want to sell the Naxrammas version. The primary point of adding these mounts in though, was to equalize the number of obtainable mounts for Horde and Alliance as they relate to the achievement.

Would it have been so hard to follow through with the Ravasaur idea though?

These 3 new mounts are great for padding our mount numbers for the achievement, but it would have been nice to get something useful out of it outside of that single purpose.

There are several other obtainable mounts going in with 3.1. I'm speaking specifically about balancing the number of standard faction mounts for the Horde.

Forgive me for thinking that's sheer stupidity.

No, I'd prefer not to.

It essentially means we get something useless instead of something useful. Thanks a lot. -_-

We just couldn't get the art done in time for the Horde-only Reins of the Swift Jim Cramer mount.

I for one am disapointed that the new ud mount is non epic.

on another note is the ravisour going to be in the patch or not?

There is not a Ravasaur mount going in for 3.1.

It might take more work and might not even be an option, but wouldn't a good alternative be to change the Blue Skeletal Horse's color to black, and then add a Black Skeletal Warhorse?

It's not really an option at this point in the testing process. The primary goal is to equalize the number of standard faction mounts so the mount achievement is not more difficult for the Horde compared to the Alliance. While we wanted to make the Forsaken mount a warhorse, we still feel the original goal is achieved in numbers.

This has nothing to do with comparisons to the Winterspring Frostsaber. There are still plans for providing an equivalent reward for the Horde, but it's not happening in 3.1.

We are still minus an epic faction mount. and plus a bunch of useless mounts that serve no purpose other than getting an achievement. So basically we are being given an inferior mount to make up for an imbalance created by blizzard and told that is good enough by the big blue and its sympathizers.

I explained the reason the mount is not epic in the hopes it would provide some sort of understanding behind the addition of that mount specifically. The fact is that a mistake was made when adding the mounts which resulted in one feasible solution beyond simply pulling the new mounts altogether: using an art asset that was already available of a mount, non-epic though it may be.

I didn't tell you it's good enough for us. I said the primary goal was to give the horde more mounts to inflate numbers; and, after a mistake was made -- which is unfortunate -- one of those mounts will not be epic.

Have a good weekend.

[sarcasm] Oh an explanation makes it all better. I should have realized it before. I am terribly sorry for not realizing that the explanation would make my blue horse epic as it should be. [/sarcasm]

Clearly you're mad about the reality of the situation. I can't change that reality for you.
