Concerning the Tailoring rugs and 100 mounts

If I were to level Tailoring and take the Spellfire path, make the 450 rug, then I would be able to drop Tailoring, or unlearn it and take a different path for a different rug in theory, right?

This would give me a total of 6 extra mounts so any responses would be appreciated.
