Work?

Hey there, I myself am at work, and was just wondering some random things...

-How much of your work day do you spend on the wow forums?

I myself probably spend at least 1/4 of my work day randomly reading posts, and inserting my mirthful wisdom where it is needed.

-Are you allowed to look at the wow forums?

Normally not an issue at my workplace (call center) unless we've got VIP's coming through, then it's preferred not to look at the site as someone could "see the warcraft logo, and think you're playing a game..."

-Do you browse 1-2 forums, or surf them all?

I won't lie, lately I've been spending much of my time at the DK and Tanking forums. Sometimes I go to the shaman forums just to remind myself why I quit playing mine.

-Should you be doing work right now?

-Nope! Beauty of call centers, when everything works, I don't

I try and spend roughly 1/2 of my work day on these forums, though that number could increase or decrease drastically on a given day.

Indeed.

I visit many forums, though I do watch general the most on average. I also spend time reading posts on non-official wow sites, forums, blogs, etc...

Yes, and I am!

I think its safe to say that I look at the forums more than you; which surprises me.

Well, beyond having other things I need to work on, I also gather feedback from other sources. Besides, I just stated what fraction of time I spend reading these forums in my work day. I didn't indicate how many hours I work per week, nor did I indicate how much I'm on these forums from home.

Do you play WoW when you get home? >_>

Or....do you play other things?

I've not played any PC games other than WoW in quite a while. I've been playing my DS now and then though.

I've always wonder, can you work from home? I honestly don't know how you do it. After an hour on these forums I have a desire to put small furry creatures in the microwave.

Yeah, I work from home quite often, actually. I view emails through my blackberry or webmail, and I read the forums regularly during evenings and weekends.

I want your job. How do I apply :(

That's in addition to my normal work schedule, ya know. :)

I actually have one question. How much work did you have to do to get the nicer work from home job with Blizzard?

Read above. :)

I think you misunderstand. I work hours from home in addition to a normal 45-60 hours at the office each week.

I get paid the same each paycheck, regardless.

Actually I did get that part my friend. I was wondering more of how long you were with the company to get this position. How much hard work did you have to do to get the option to even work from home? While you do work a ton of hours and that does stink abit my old job was like that cept I always had to be there. You do have the option to say work from a laptop on a sunny day in the park from home. Which is a nice perk to me.

I still don't think you're getting it. :D

I'm working on my time off. In any case, I've been at Blizzard for about 7.5 years. I started working as a Community Manager just before World of Warcraft launched a little over four years ago.

Aww, you're so dedicated.

It must be nice to have a job you love doing. I'm jealous.

Well, it's not always by choice. Somtimes things come up that require me to work from home when I'm off. I have two work phones, and when the small one rings it specifically means I'm going to have to stop what I'm doing. :P

Eyo, Does it light up red like the batman phone?

Or does it play a catchy toon?

Or a death threat if you don't answer?

There is a small chip in my heart that will release mercury if I don't answer within 45 seconds.

What kind of problems are those?

"THE RPERS HAVE TAKEN OVER THE GENERAL FORUMS! WE NEED YOUR MASTER MODERATION SKILLS IN NOW!"

"ZARHYM'S TAKEN OVER THE LOBBY WITH NERF GUNS! REPORT STAT!"

I'm sorry. I have an over-active imagination.

Hehe, no -- those situations aren't forum related.

Well the solution is obvious...start building up an immunity..

Although I'd like to know how they installed that without you knowing...

That's the sick part, I had to install it myself.
