Mage/Warlock Spirit Hypocrisy? Intended?

Q u o t e:
Spirit can't provide both more damage and more regen for the same stat (relative to similar stats) or it goes from neglected to godly. Since most mages end up with some Spirit, unless they have been farming for a long time and managed to build an amazing dps set that lacks Spirit altogether, we don't think it will be a problem.

So... if that is the case, why are Warlocks the exception? You changed Glyph of Life Tap to give 45% of Spirit in Spellpower for 20 seconds.

Now since 40/31 and 41/30 are the two best specs so far on the PTR, we'll take Fel Armor from there.

39% from Fel Armor, 45% from Glyph of Life Tap. That's 84% of your Spirit as Spellpower, not to mention that it gives you more mana from Life Tap. Now of course, you reach a middle ground where the extra mana is making you Life Tap less and have the Glyph of Life Tap buff up less (well, maybe not, if it gives enough, you may Life Tap just to keep it up, but we'll see), but even still, that's a lot of damage AND mana regeneration from Spirit.

But in the end, Warlock DPS isn't crazy out of control, it's fine. We're proof of how you could improve Mages, especially because of how they are lacking in the DPS department. Maybe that extra 200 spellpower from Spirit talent you were saying you didn't want to do might be a good idea.

Differences among classes != hypocrisy.

As long as mages and warlocks do comparable damage, are about as powerful in PvP, scale about the same way, and one isn't a lot more desirable in a group, then the specifics of how they differ isn't inherently a problem.

Mage gear has a lot of Spirit on it that doesn't help them much at the moment. We want to improve that. We are not going to turn mages into a class that stacks Spirit at the expense of all else, and we're not going to let Spirit provide "free" dps to mages that elevates them above the average dps of warlocks -- unless they are far below warlocks now, which does not seem to be the case. If you think it *is* the case, please provide some data or math so we know where you're coming from.
