I wish epics were hard to obtain.

To be honest I really miss the old days of everyone in blues/greens with the occasional guy in full epics that everyone worshipped. I miss joining a bg and just making the best with what you have.

I'll be the first to admit I'm an awful player, but in a few weeks I've been able to acquire a decent set of gear. This is a link to my armory: http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Burning+Legion&n=Syonix

I'm trying to bring back the days of Drakedog, but it's impossible. Rogues and Druids still kill me during the initial stun without me being able to do anything. I know people died fast pre - BC, but that was only to GMs or geared Pvers. As it is a feral druid in blues can destroy me in seconds.

Everytime I think of how good times were back then I get a little teary.

There are many more ways to get epics now, so you're going to see more end-game players wearing them. In any case, the era you're referring to (mostly blues and greens) was while many people were still learning the game, and there were also fewer players at level capacity. Well before Burning Crusade launched, the majority of people hanging out on the realms I played on had at least a bunch of Molten Core epics.

This became especially true given that many guilds began selling raid spots to players who wanted to sport some gold, giving them access to any number of epics that dropped.

Yes but when you played, those people didnt have those epics till months later, im sure. I've played since day 1, not the same account but I do remember only seeing one guild with a couple players in more then one epic over a month into MC. It did take time to learn the game yes, but MC came out months after the game launched. Top end players didnt breeze through the raid instances like they do now. Its a little ridiculous.

Yes, but your problem here is that you're viewing the expansion as a new game, and it's not. It's an extension of the current game.

I understand that. But you can't honestly believe that the raids now are anywhere near as difficult as they used to be. But then I could have just added to your statement, we no longer have 40 man raids, and getting enough people capable of following orders and playing their class right during PRE BC was as difficult as the raids >.>.

I think many things have gotten better, which makes things easier and more accessible, yes. I mean remember the first pull in Molten Core before the fix? There were also general issues with the initial raid content back then. Despite what people think about "today's average player", there were many more players back then who knew little to nothing about the game -- people were still learning.

A player's lack of knowledge of an area stood out less though because most everyone knew a little less back then. I remember a time where most pugs I entered had absolutely no concept at all of the roles and relationships between tank, healer dps. I'm not talking about an occasional bad pug, but rather what was more common.

Your troll attempt backfired, sadly. And you spawned numerous interesting discussions in one single thread. Thank you for creating something constructive, actually.

We'll remove you two from the equation then and carry on, your purpose has been served and we thank you.

SCREW that bullcrap!

Go back to the days when people demanded you were full purple in those rares before you were even considered for a raid or instance?! Nuh uh! No thank you!

Many raiders feared more than ever back then that players in greens and blues were inexperienced and their presence would prove to be a disaster for the group.

Wait a second. Are you from the future talking about the present?

Isn't that how it is, now? Or is that just the impression the forums give?

It was far worse than now.

I think part of this argument is nostalgia though. Even if raids were more difficult in vanilla, the game is so much better now for so many reasons. I was in the army and I can remember good times, but there were a hell of a lot of messed up times also. Sometimes people's hindsight focuses on just the positive.

Heh, most people's hindsight focuses on only the positive. I've been involved with this community since the initial beta, and I remember ALL the different flames. All that changes over time is the subject of the flame, but the OUTRAGE is always the same. :D

Have I changed, Eyonix? Have I *really* changed?

This is probably a moot point since I've only been posting on the forums for about 1/3rd of my WoW career, but... >>

Nope, we're all the same. Only our discssuons continue to change. :D
