Why are we killing an old god?

Hasn't all of the lore about old gods up to this point basically said that killing an old god is a very bad idea?

Even the titans wouldn't kill them because of the amount of havoc their deaths would wreak. So what makes it okay for us to just waltz into Ulduar and put a bullet in Yogg-Saron's brain?

Wouldn't his death throw everything in northrend out of whack? He's closest to where the curse of flesh began, so isn't it possible that his death will revert some parts of the curse?

Or is Yogg-Saron being used as a giant story element to unlock and even bigger and greater evil?

Either way, Old God = bad, killing old gods = WORSE!

So why are we doing this? (besides epics)

My best suggestion at this point would be to pay close attention to the in game information on what is happening. There are many clues there that will let you in on the larger story. Nothing is ever as cut and dry as it might seem.
