Mod that allows cross-faction communication

So, there is apparently a mod that allows cross-faction communication. This mod is currently being discussed in a thread on the general forums. After some research I found the mod they are speaking of.

When I (and others) informed the folks that we think this would result in a banhammer, one of the folks opened a ticket in game, and got an "A-OK" from the GM who answered.

I personally think the GM was misunderstanding the question, or the person did not give the proper information. I hoped someone here (blue perhaps?) could make an official response to the matter that I could point them to?

I'm going to add a link to where I find the mod, and more info on said mod. I'm going to edit the link out asap, so only a blue can see it. :)

Mod : REMOVED =D

Cross faction communication is certainly not Ok. Perhaps there is some confusion going around and I will see about providing clarification when necessary.

You can also write to [email protected] if you believe the Game Master may have misunderstood the issue or answer. :)

Eyonix, one of our Community Managers replied to a cross-faction thread a couple of days ago. I'll quote his responses here.

    Player Q u o t e:
I don't see why Alliance and Horde can't start talking to each other now. If trash-talking is the issue, there is always /ignore, and /report for more extreme cases.

    Q u o t e:
We don't allow cross-faction communication because the two factions are at war and we want to foster a sense of separation. If you wish to communicate, you'll have to do so with hand gestures, noises and movements (emotes).

    Player Q u o t e:
Could have fooled me... Neutral cities, Arena, Factional Safe zones centered around faction cities... the list goes on.

Pretty sure that in war 2 sides can still communicate with each other by speech and various other methods.

If you want 2 factions to really be at war some things in WoW need to change quite drastically, fostering a communications barrier is not it.

    Q u o t e:
Everything you've listed could be explained. What matters is, it's how we've decided to approach things. It comes down to the fact that we want neutral cities, arenas, factional safe zones. We don't want cross-faction communication.

Here's a question for you, GM sir, on the same subject.

How does this affect RP servers where "cross" faction events take place and the various parties use vent or a messenger to co-ordinate their movements, or the posting of an event's chatlog so the factions can read it?

Out of game communications are not part of our purview, you are welcome to use Vent or another method of communication outside the game if you wish. We don't have any jurisdiction there. :)

This is directly about in-game communication between faction, not counting emotes.
