Soo....In the past due to the lack of names available I had no choice on some names but to use alt letters...suck as à or Ö or Ç.

How was this confirmed? Well if I had been reported years ago for it on an old toon I like to return the favor :)

Last night I gamed with a real tool of a player, named Púðgey, I send in a report to a GM expecting a name change and much to my suprise I get a letter from a game master saying this....

Recently, you contacted us in regards to a particular character name or names that you felt violated our posted naming policy. I would like to thank you for taking the time to keep World of Warcraft enjoyable for everyone.

Due to the nature of the name(s) reported, the decision has been made not to change it. Please remember that it is at the sole discretion of Blizzard Entertainment whether or not a name is changed, and any policy is subject to revision at any time. Our goal is not to police all names in the game but rather to keep the environment free of names that are clearly offensive.

Thank you again for the report, and we hope that you continue to bring to our attention names that you believe are offensive and violate our policies. I hope you enjoy the rest of your time in World of Warcraft!

So with it now official from a GM as I will forever keep the letter as proof in case a future GM is not aware of the new rules saying we CAN use them, I can refer him to the appropriate GM :)

Let the flood gates of decent names open and begin!

High-ASCII characters are indeed presently permitted within the World of Warcraft, Moograine. Please note, though, that any names containing such characters must also adhere to standard Naming rule sets. :)
