Other class changes like paladins?

I recently started replaying my ret paladin. I hadn't played the class since before Wotlk, and was not aware of the class changes. Previously, I had enjoyed the class thinking that it had some limitations, but was still pretty adequete. I was unsure of the class damage, as I only go to 70, but compared to my mage it had some huge advantages, and some huge disadvantages.

What I am saying is that Pre-Wotlk, I thought paladins were ok. There were certain annoyances about the class that made them ,still playable, but at times limited. Overall, I thought they were a pretty balanced class.

Now that Wotlk is out, I started playing my ret paladin again. I respecced and was impressed by all the new talents. I found the class was much more fun to play and that the new talents really aided leveling. Overall, I would not say the class is OP, as I'm only 71 currently, but I would say that the class is updated and there aren't as many limitations as pre-Wotlk. The reason for this was that paladins underwent a major review when Wotlk came out, and the class changed significantly. Seals, judgements, talents, they all effectively changed, probably buffed, but at least changed to be more effective. With Wotlk, paladin talents became more effective.

It makes me think that other classes might need the same treatment. Many classes are built around the game as it was 4 years ago, and not as the game is now. I think that is one major problem with balance is that you can't balance a class unless you update it, make it more effective. Similar to the way paladins were updated.

We are pretty happy with the paladin overhaul from Lich King. It is taking some time to polish all the changes both from a balance and gameplay perspective.

We're not convinced every class in the game needs those kind of major changes. It is pretty typical to see players demanding overhauls or "rebuild the class from scratch" kind of posts, but we just disagree in most cases.

That is not to say that every class couldn't use some polish somewhere. We really don't think of "x class is finished" as a realistic goal. Like a kid with a rebuilt car, we're always going to be tweaking the engine to some extent.
